The Valley, the Jungle, and the Himalaya
A clear first journey through Nepal: the Kathmandu Valley, the jungles of Chitwan, and the Himalayan views from Pokhara.

Trip Overview
Description:
The Experience
Kathmandu can feel intense when you first arrive, which is why pacing matters in Nepal. When friends ask how to see the country’s major landscapes without burning out, I usually suggest flying between the key regions. The roads can be slow and unpredictable, so short domestic flights let you move comfortably from the temple courtyards of the Kathmandu Valley to the jungles of the Terai, and then up again to the lakes and Himalayan views around Pokhara.
We start by grounding you in the Kathmandu Valley, walking through the Newari architecture of Patan and spending quiet time at Boudhanath as pilgrims circle the stupa with butter lamps. Then the geography shifts completely. You drop down to the lowland forests of Chitwan for a few days of wildlife tracking along the Rapti River.
By the time you reach Pokhara, the pace naturally softens. The lake sits beneath the Annapurna range, and the days feel open and calm. We usually plan early mornings for the main experiences, leaving afternoons free to read on a balcony, sit in a courtyard café, or simply watch everyday life unfold.
Who This Trip Is For
If this is your first visit to Nepal, this route strikes a comfortable balance between cultural history and natural landscapes. You see the temples of the Kathmandu Valley, the wildlife of the Terai, and the Himalayan panorama from Pokhara without the fatigue of long road journeys or demanding treks.
It works well for couples or families who want to understand the country but prefer a relatively relaxed pace. The trip relies on short domestic flights, comfortable lodges, and a private guide who handles the local logistics. You do need to be comfortable walking across uneven historic squares and climbing a few stupa steps, but overall the experience is more about observing and absorbing the atmosphere than pushing physical limits.
