Temples and Tide
Seven nights balancing Egypt’s major monuments with unstructured time on the Red Sea.

Trip Overview
Description:
The Experience
Egypt’s monuments are extraordinary, but they can feel intense. This itinerary creates breathing room.
The first half centres on what truly matters: the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. We move early when needed and avoid rushing from site to site.
Then the journey turns east toward the Red Sea. After stone and hieroglyphs, there is open water and horizon. Two quiet days on the coast invite you to swim, read, or simply pause. You leave having seen Egypt properly, but without feeling worn by it.
Who This Trip Is For
Suited to travellers who want to see the essentials of ancient Egypt, but also value time to pause. It works well for couples and families who prefer variety in landscape rather than a journey built only around temples.
If a full Nile sailing feels too immersive, this route keeps the history clear and the final days lighter. There is contrast, but no sense of compromise.
Highlights
Day 1 | Arrival in Cairo
Arrive in Cairo and be received by our team. On the drive in, the city begins to reveal itself — flyovers, minarets, the Nile appearing unexpectedly between buildings. Check into your hotel and let the first evening remain unplanned. Egypt does not need to be rushed from the first hour.
Overnight: Cairo
Day 2 | Cairo — Pyramids & Old City
Begin early at Giza, before the plateau fills with voices. Stand close enough to see the scale of stone, and far enough to take in the desert around it. Later, the Grand Egyptian Museum gives context to what you’ve witnessed. As the afternoon softens, walk through Islamic Cairo where carved doors, minarets and narrow lanes hold another layer of the city’s memory.
Overnight: Cairo
Day 3 | Cairo → Luxor
Fly south to Luxor, once ancient Thebes (Egypt’s former capital). In the afternoon, enter Karnak (vast temple complex) slowly. The columns rise in rows, built and rebuilt across dynasties, a record in stone rather than in text. Stay until the light begins to shift.
Overnight: Luxor
Day 4 | Luxor — Valley of the Kings
Cross the Nile at first light to the West Bank. Descend into selected tombs in the Valley of the Kings where colour still survives underground. Continue to the Temple of Hatshepsut, carved into desert cliffs. The evening is unstructured, perhaps a quiet walk along the river.
Overnight: Luxor
Day 5 | Luxor → Red Sea Coast
Leave the river behind and drive east across the Eastern Desert. The green valley gives way to open sand. By late afternoon, the Red Sea appears in a band of blue. Check in and let the pace change on its own.
Overnight: Red Sea Coast
Day 6 | Red Sea — At Leisure
A full day by the water. Swim over coral reefs, read in the shade, or do very little. After the weight of history, this is space.
Overnight: Red Sea Coast
Day 7 | Red Sea — Coastal Rhythm
Another unhurried day on the coast. Perhaps a small boat over clear water, perhaps simply watching the light shift across the sea. The horizon becomes the only agenda.
Overnight: Red Sea Coast
Day 8 | Departure
Transfer to Hurghada Airport, or return to Cairo for your onward flight. Leave with contrast still fresh in memory — stone and sea, desert and river.
