Seven days through wine country and ski valleys
A gentle 7-day winter exploration of Tbilisi and the snowy Caucasus, weaving museums, wine regions, and Gudauri’s stillness. Designed for travellers who love culture and slow journey.

Trip Overview
Description:
The Experience
Winter settles gently over Georgia. Tbilisi moves at a quieter pace, its sulphur baths breathing out ribbons of steam and the old town carrying a soft, amber light. Further north, the mountains gather snow in slow, deliberate layers; Gudauri feels suspended between sky and silence.
This journey spends time in both worlds — the city’s museums, wine cellars and hillside chapels, and the high Caucasus where the days unfold more slowly. It’s a week shaped by winter light, warm meals, and the steady rhythm of moving between stories, landscapes and centuries.
Who This Trip Is For
This is for travellers who enjoy culture at an unhurried pace and don’t mind the softer edges of winter. For those who prefer museums to must-sees, conversations to checklists, and a day in the mountains that can be as active or as quiet as the weather allows.
It may not suit someone seeking constant activity or guaranteed conditions on the slopes. The appeal here lies in atmosphere — the mix of history, wine, and winter days that unfold without rush.
Highlights
Day 1 — Arrival in Tbilisi
A private transfer brings you into the city. Settle into your boutique stay and take in the first outlines of the capital, its hills and rooftops scattered with winter light.
Day 2 — Tbilisi: Art, Wine and the Old Town
Begin with the Georgian Museum of Fine Arts, home to a considered collection of modern Georgian works.
Later, taste wines at the Karalashvili family cellar, where production has continued since the 14th century.
The afternoon moves through the old town — Sameba Cathedral, Metekhi Church, the riverfront, and the glass curve of the Bridge of Peace — before wandering towards Meidan Square and Shardeni Street.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 3 — Mtskheta, Ananuri and Into the Mountains
Travel to Mtskheta, the country’s spiritual centre. Visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery, each holding centuries of religious history and views over the meeting of two rivers.
Continue along the Georgian Military Highway to the Ananuri Fortress above the Zhinvali Reservoir.
Reach Gudauri by late afternoon for your mountain stay.
Day 4 — Gudauri in Winter
Wake to the quiet of the Caucasus. The day is open for skiing, or simply spending time on the slopes as the conditions allow.
Optional activities — paragliding or snowmobiling — can be arranged if the weather cooperates.
Evening brings a slower mood: warm drinks, mountain air, and a sky that feels close enough to touch.
Overnight in Gudauri.
Day 5 — Return to Tbilisi
Drive back towards the capital, pausing at the monumental Chronicle of Georgia — a stark, sculptural retelling of kings, saints and national memory.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 6 — Markets, Hilltops and a Quiet Evening
Begin at the Dry Bridge Flea Market, where Soviet objects, vintage pieces and local art sit side by side.
Ride the Mtatsminda Funicular for broad views over the city before spending time around Freedom Square and Mtatsminda Park.
Browse Meidan Bazaar for crafts, then end the evening with a fine dining experience where Georgian dishes take a contemporary turn.
Overnight in Tbilisi.
